They talk. YOU READ THEM LOUD & CLEAR.
CapTel (Captioned Telephone) is an ideal phone for people with hearing loss. When you make a call to someone, their words wil appear almost instantly on a bright, easy-to-read display window built into the CapTel. If you miss hearing a word, you can still follow the conversation on the screen. When you respond, you can speak freely and not wait for the captions to appear. Both parties can enjoy a more natural conversation with no pauses.
CapTel users place a call in the same way as dialing a traditional phone. As the dial, the CapTel automatically connects to a captioning service. When the other party answers, a specially trained operator working behind the scenes at the captioning service transcribes everything the other party says into written text, using the very latest in voice-recognition technology. The written text appears on the display window built into the CapTel. The captions appear almost simultaneously with the spoken word, allowing the CapTel users to understand everything that is said - either by hearing or reading.
Anyone making calls to you must first call the toll-free captioning service for captions to appear on your CapTel. In order to make this process easier for friends and family, your CapTel comes with a sheet of "Call Me" cards (similar to business cards) listing the captioning service phone number.
